Camps Take Shape

Impact 2017 is growing rapidly as we officially have Co-Chairs and Prayer Teamers! It has been such an awesome experience to see God faithfully bring workers to go out into harvest for the Class of 2021, with these two roles being extremely vital in the laying of a foundation within this ministry.

Co-Chairs lead the camp in various aspects to best train and equip the counselors for retreat in August. Prayer teamers illustrate what it looks like to be a living sacrifice for the name of Jesus, encouraging an overall attitude of prayer and dependency on the Lord. The true form of a camp begins to take shape when these 120 students are split up into the 30 different quads.  As a quad, these leaders have the opportunity to train up counselors to be the hands and feet of Christ, ultimately serving the incoming freshmen who will attend Impact Retreat 2017!

These quads took shape this first weekend of December at our annual Co-Chair / Prayer Team Retreat. And wow did God move in some amazing ways! With various activities and team building exercises, students were challenged to grow in their leadership while gaining better understanding of their specific roles for the coming year. In the span of 36 short hours, students were given their partners, quads and camps.

To look out over these quads in their first few hours, you could see relationships taking root and God establishing something bigger than just us. It was exciting to stand there in that moment, in awe of our Creator. With a wide range of backgrounds in the room, it is incredible to see the bond they share in Christ unite them in a matter of seconds. These camps have only just begun and we wait in expectation to see the marvelous wonders God will perform through these students to glorify His great name!

Here's a look at the new quads for all three sessions of each camp!

A LASTING IMPACT

Each August Impact gives freshmen their first glimpse of the Body of Christ in college. Many freshmen, including Clayton Fraley, Class of 2020, have reached the end of their first semester. Our hope is they are plugged into the local church, providing a source of lasting community and encouragement during a student’s years in the B/CS area.

Clayton Fraley has been able to plug into a church and grow more than he ever thought possible before coming into college. “Through my church, I have found a support group and close friends who are all walking through this college experience together, continuing to grow together in God’s love.” It is stories like this that bring us such joy. God is using churches and ministries in this city to point freshmen and countless others toward Christ and Impact has the privilege of being a small part of this story.

END OF YEAR GIVING

As 2016 draws to a close we want to first give thanks to our Mighty God who has faithfully done so much in and through this ministry over the past 12 months. He is on the move, and we are excited to move with Him into the new year of 2017. We want to thank you all for your support of this ministry in the last year and appreciate your zealous efforts in helping Impact fulfill its mission of reaching freshmen at Texas A&M and Blinn with the Gospel.
